This month Greta suggested Easter gifts as our theme. So we decided to post our bakes a little early to show you some Easter treats you can make at home.
If you are new around here click on the tab at the top of the page to find out what The Food Exchange is about!
Greta challenged me to make Schweinohren, which translates as pigs ears. I quickly found a recipe which was very simple. All you have to do is roll out a sheet of puff pastry, brush with water and sprinkle over some sugar. Roll up both ends and put the whole thing in the freezer to harden up. Once it has hardened, take out of the freezer and cut into slices. Bake until golden and dip in chocolate! So simple!
I will admit that I was not sure if I liked them when I first tried them but I think it was because it wasn’t what I was expecting. After a second one I was converted! The end result is crispy and sweet almost like a biscuit and the chocolate is a lovely contrast. These would definitely make a lovely alternative Easter gift,
Make sure you had over to Greta’s blog to see what she has baked this month!
Wow, Lucy, they look perfect! I think I will make them next week! xxx
Thank you and thanks for the idea! They were really tasty! Xxx
I make a really similar treat, but they are dipped in chocolate ganache when you eat them. Very scrummy. YOurs would indeed make a lovely gift. https://simplefood.blog/2013/10/12/cinnamon-palmiers/
I love the sound of that! I might have to give them a go!
Yum, I love these! π I really enjoy your food exchange, it’s interesting to see what someone thinks about dishes they didn’t know before π
Thank you! I have really enjoyed doing the Food Exchange with Greta for the last few years. It has definitely helped me to feel more settled here. It is lovely to know someone else enjoys it too!
