Liebster Award and the Real Neat Blog Award

An extra post from me this week! I have recently been nominated for a few blog awards; the Real Neat Blog Award and the Liebster Award. I am very flattered to have been nominated for these awards and it shows how lovely the blogging community is! I was also a little apprehensive when I first received these as I didn’t think people would find my answers overly interesting but I have decided to do it anyway!

The first award I was nominated for was the Liebster Award by the lovely Aberdeen’s Kitchen and Sweet Cupcake Emporium. Thank you ladies! As I have been nominated twice, rather than answering 20 questions I will take 5 from each list… I hope that is ok!

The Rules of a Liebster Award:

  • Post the Liebster Award logo on your blog, on your homepage or in a post.
  • Link back to your nominator 🙂
  • Answer the ten questions they have set up for you.
  • Nominate ten other bloggers for the award (preferably with under 1000 followers) and let them know they’ve been nominated.
  • Think of ten questions for your nominees to answer.

1.Other than blogging, what are your hobbies?

Baking and cooking are massive hobbies of mine (I am sure that is not a suprise!). I also really enjoy reading and travelling. I have two friends who are the best travelling companions, things always go wrong when they are around (while at a spice farm they decided to eat everything in sight and then proceeded to feel rather ill!) but their attitude towards everything means you always see the funny side of things. I have recently started getting in to food photography too but I have a lot to learn!

2.What’s your favorite piece of equipment to use in your kitchen?

My Kitchen Aid which Tim bought for me! I baked for a long time with out any kind of mixer but it is amazing how much easier it makes everything! We make lots of fresh pasta with it too!

3.What’s behind your blog’s name?

Unfortunately my blog name is very unimaginative! Lucya is a nickname a few of my friends call me.

4.What’s the best blog post that you’ve written so far, in your opinion?

My blog post which has received the most attention has definitely been the recipe for Chocolate Marshmallow Bars. I have been quite overwhelmed with how much attention this little recipe has received!

5.What is your favourite food?

Chocolate and cheese (not together though!)

6.Do you have any particular goal in mind in regard to your baking? If so, what is it?

The big dream is to one day open my own Patisserie and potentially write a cookbook. I know the chances of either of those happening are fairly slim but you should always dream! Other than that I would like to train as a professional pâtissier!

7.THE one thing on your bucket list…

go to Scandinavia and see the Northern Lights.

8.Favourite time of the day for cooking?

Either in the afternoon after school or on a Sunday morning when Tim goes out for his long bike rides!

9.Chocolate or Red Velvet?

Chocolate, definitely. I am not sure I have ever had a Red Velvet cake!

10. Favourite Cookbook?

This changes almost weekly! But at the moment it has to be Bread, Cake, Doughnut, Pudding by Justin Gellatly.

the Real Neat Blog Award

This second nomination came from the lovely Vanessa from My Gastro Adventure, who through this award I have discovered grew up not far from me!

The rules of this Award are as follows:

  • Put the Award Logo in your post.
  • Answer 7 questions asked by the person who nominated you.
  • Thank the people who nominated you, linking to their blogs.
  • Nominate any number of bloggers you like, linking to their blogs.
  • Let them know you nominated them (by commenting on their blog)

My questions were as follows;

  1. What are you most looking forward to in the next 12 months?

So much is happening in the next 12 months! I am going back to England for a month in the summer and we are having our English wedding celebration! (we got married here in Germany). I am looking forward to seeing all of my family and friends together and hopefully eating some amazing food! Then it is quickly back to Germany to start my Patisserie training!

2.What is your favourite book and why?

One Day by David Nicholls. I love how you follow the same charecters over 20 years and by the end of the book you feel like you know them. My copy is very tatty as it has been lent to so many people!

3.How did you get involved in blogging?

I can’t really remember if I am honest! I first started my blog in January 2014 but I was very sporadic at posting and I always struggled to think of content, I stopped posting for quite a while and then in December 2014 I started blogging again but with regular posts this time! I find blogging a great way to meet like minded people and to get inspiration.

4.If you could only eat one dish for the rest of your life, what would it be and why?

That is such a hard question! Probably something like pasta with figs, walnuts, goats cheese and some fresh bread!

5.If you had a dinner party and you could invite any 5 guests, dead or alive, who would you invite?

I am going to go down the celebrity route here, otherwise it would be various members of my family all of the way!

Carrie Hope Fletcher, Emma Watson, Paul A Young, Ed Sheeran and Rachel Khoo. Such a random mix!

6.If you could live anywhere in the world, where would it be and why?

I am a country girl at heart but the one city that I adore is Paris. I love the architecture, the pace of life and of course, the food! Other than that it would probably be somewhere in Scandinavia!

7.What is your best piece of advice for a new blogger?

When you start writing your blog write about a broad subject to begin with e.g. food. You will soon realise what you enjoy writing about most then you can concentrate on that area!

My questions for you:

1.What inspired you to start blogging?

2.What is the most unusual thing you have eaten?

3.What is your favourite meal?

4.What is your least favourite meal?

5.Who are your cooking/ baking inspirations?

6.What is on the top of your bucket list?

7.What is your comfort food?

8.Chocolate Cake or Victoria Sponge?

9.Favourite meal of the day?

10.Do you have any particular goals for your baking?

I know this isn’t following the rules completely but I am going to nominate 5 of the blogs below for one award and the other 5 for the other.

My Nominations:

1.The Swirling Spoon

2.A Taste of the Caribbean!

3.Cook on a Whim
