After a few months break we are back. In the last few months Greta and Dan have got married, a huge congratulations you two! Our lives have also been pretty hectic with our little ones.
This month we decided to do quite an open theme, we decided to bake something that we have wanted to bake but haven’t had the opportunity.
I decided to make a Käse Sahne Torte, which is 2 thin layers of vanilla sponge filled with a quark cheesecake filling.
I tasted this cake for the first time this year and it has quickly become my favourite German cake. When made well it is a very light cake which isn’t too sweet. So I thought I would give it a go.
The sponge was incredibly easy to make. I simply put all of the ingredients in to my kitchen aid and mixed them until I had a smooth batter and then baked it.
The filling was also very easy to make. I don’t bake with gelatine very often so I was worried I hadn’t put enough into the mixture. I was convinced when I took the cake out of its ring the centre would ooze out… but it didn’t!
If you haven’t heard of this cake but like cheesecake I would highly recommend making it! Here is the recipe I used.
As always, if you have any suggestions for challenges for me and Greta please let us know in the comments below!
