I have been wanting to make this recipe for a while now but had to wait until I was back in England to get a Terry’s Chocolate Orange. For those of you who aren’t from England and don’t know what they are, they are chocolate flavoured with orange in an orange shape!

These always remind me of my sister. When we were younger, we had a Chocolate Orange between us and went into my sister’s room to eat it. Normally you have to give it a hard tap to get the segments apart. I attempted to do this with a plate on my sister’s bed… unfortunately, I banged it against the plate a little too hard and the plate cracked in half, but the Chocolate Orange was still in one piece!

These brownies are super chocolatey and have a really strong taste of orange, I really like getting the chunks of the chocolate orange too!

Chocolate Orange Brownies

Ingredients

300g dark chocolate

220g butter, softened

3 eggs

225g brown sugar

120g plain flour

1/2 tsp of baking powder

1 Terry’s Chocolate Orange

The juice and zest of two oranges

Method

Preheat the oven to 180c (fan assisted oven).

Melt the dark chocolate and butter together in a bowl over a pan of hot water. Once melted allow the mixture to cool slightly.

Roughly chop the Terry’s Chocolate Orange into small pieces (roughly four pieces per segment) and put to one side.

In a separate bowl beat the eggs, orange juice and zest and sugar together.

Add the melted chocolate mixture and mix well.

Stir in the flour, baking powder and Terry’s Chocolate Orange pieces until well combined.

Pour in to a lined baking tin and level the surface.

Bake in the oven for 40 minutes.

Take the brownies out of the oven and leave to cool completely before cutting.
