Christmas Day

This is our third Christmas in Germany. The first two years we decided to do a traditional Christmas dinner, but to be honest, it is a bit of a faff for just two people! So this year we just decided to make some of our favourite dishes.

I thought it might be quite nice to write a blog post about what we ate. I also got a new camera for Christmas, so spent a lot of the day playing around with it!

We started off Christmas day with toasted English muffins, bacon and eggs! We haven’t had toasted muffins since moving here so it was a real treat. The recipe I used was from the lovely Jennifer at Milk and Honey blog. Her recipe was really easy so I will definitely be making them again. If you want to give them ago you can find the recipe here.

We then had a light lunch of smoked salmon pate with bread. I always use a really simple recipe from BBC Good Food. It is 4 ingredients put into a blender and that is it!

For dinner we decided to have one of out favourite dinners… boeuf bourguignon! Our favourite recipe is by Rachel Khoo and is from her first cookbook. What we particularly like about this version is that it is served with baguette dumplings… I highly recommend them!

Finally, we decided to make this moelleux au chocolat et meringue. Since seeing this on Dans le meal’s Instagram feed I have wanted to make it and just haven’t found the time. The recipe is in french so it did test me a little bit but it was oh so worth it! Unfortunately, I overbaked it slightly so the middle wasn’t as gooey as it should have been. So I am definitely going to make it again!

If you follow me on Instagram you may have seen the video I posted of our new Kitchenaid attachment. We have had our eye on the pasta press for a long time and decided to treat ourselves, so we spent boxing day making pasta!
