A New Year and another Food Exchange! Greta and I started The Food Exchange back in July 2015 and every month I still look forward to my message from Greta with my monthly challenge.
The Food Exchange is basically a food swap. I am English and moved to Germany back in 2014 and Greta is German and moved to England around the same time. Every month we come up with a new topic (we would love to hear your suggestions!) and give each other a recipe from our home country to try. To see all of our past backs click on “The Food Exchange” tab at the top of the page.
This month we decided to give the sweet stuff a bit of a break and settled on the topic of savoury bakes. Greta challenged me to make Schinken Käse Hörnchen (ham and cheese croissants). There are many recipes on the internet for these and I settled on a really simple one. All it requires is; 1 pack of puff pastry, 6 slices of ham and some grated cheese. Cut the pastry into six squares and lay a piece of ham in the middle of each square, scatter with cheese and roll the pastry into croissants, glaze with egg and bake. It really is THAT simple!
Tim came home from work and demolished quite a few of these in one sitting, so clearly they are very tasty! But then again they are pastry, cheese and ham, what is not to like? They are definitely best served when they are still warm from the oven!
Make sure you go over to Greta’s blog to see my savoury challenge for her!
I lovelovelove your photography in this post, they look so tasty I want to reach out and grab one!
Thank you Alexandra! I have just got a new camera and am enjoying playing with it! X
Pastry, ham and cheese. A definite can’t miss combination.
